Based on recent data mapping developed to reveal food insecurity risk geographically, of the 46 counties in South Carolina, our county ranks highest in food insecurity risk, 83.4 out of 100, comprised of four domains that include Economic, Mobility, Household, and Vulnerability data points.
The SC Food Insecurity Risk Index consists of eight variables from secondary data sources organized into four domains:
- Economic Status in context of ability to consistently afford nutritious food
- Mobility as the means to access food resources independently and conveniently
- Household Structure as it relates to earners and non-earners (dependents)
